Addis Ababa, 20 January 2012: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Jean Ping, condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks in Kano, Nigeria, that resulted in the death of seven people, while many others were injured.

The Chairperson of the Commission expresses AU’s condolences to the families of the victims and wishes those wounded a speedy recovery.

The Chairperson of the Commission reaffirms AU’s total rejection of terrorism in all its forms, as well as its full support to the efforts of the Government of Nigeria aimed at bringing to an end all terrorist attacks in the country.
