INVITATION TO THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA
What: The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AUPSC) and the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (UN PBC) will convene for their 6th Annual Informal Consultative Meeting to discuss strengthened collaboration in peacebuilding efforts across Africa. The meeting will focus on enhancing synergy, advancing impactful cooperation, and discussing the development of the “Sustainable Peace Network.”
When: Monday, 13 November 2023, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm
Where: AUC HQ, New Conference Centre, Small Conference Hall 2
Background: This annual consultative meeting builds on the evolving partnership between the AU and the UN to support peacebuilding and sustaining peace in Africa. It aligns with global frameworks, including the AU's "Silencing the Guns in Africa" initiative, the AU-UN Frameworks, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This year’s session will leverage the UN Secretary-General’s "A New Agenda for Peace" to foster more impactful multilateral actions in conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
Purpose: To identify and recommend strategic areas for enhanced collaboration between the AU PSC and the UN PBC, focusing on the advancement of the revised AU Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) policy and exploring ideas for concrete collaborations.

Expected Outcomes: A strategic action plan outlining the pathway for strengthened partnership and concrete collaborative engagements between the AU and the UN PBC.
