The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 317th meeting held on 12 April 2012, was briefed by the Commission on the escalating armed conflict on the common border between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan.

Council expressed its deep concern at the prevailing situation on the ground. Council expressed strong disappointment at  the  failure of  the  two Parties
